What is it?
If you’ve browsed through a fashion and beauty magazine or listened to a hairdresser over the past ten years or so, you’ve probably heard of Keratin treatments within the hair and beauty world.
But what exactly are they?
Let me break this down as simply as possible.
Keratin is a fibrous protein molecule which makes up hair, nails, feathers, horns, claws, hooves, and the outer layer of skin. In short, since we’re talking about human beings here, it is the building blocks of your hair.
The wear and tear of every day environmental damage, as well as chemical and thermal stress we put our hair through on a daily basis, can leave our hair looking and feeling somewhat dull, dry and stressed.
In salon keratin treatments build, strengthen and repair these protein molecules in your hair leaving you with incredibly sexy smooth and shiny hair for up to three months.

Who is it for?
Anyone who desires softer, smoother and more manageable hair will benefit from a keratin treatment.
If you’ve suffered from the dreaded frizz crisis when on holiday or in the sun, you’ll know the drama humidity can cause with your hair. Remember Monica from Friends?
The treatment removes frizz, unwanted puffiness and can reduce wave and curl, although the process can be done in a way that will maintain your beautiful curls whilst only removing the frizz factor.

How long does it last?
Depending on the length and thickness of your hair and the at-home products and care, the benefits of a keratin treatment should last up to round three months.

how to book?
Since the process can take a few hours, booking can only be made after an in salon consultation.

Variations of the service.
We are working hard at developing shorter variations of the process as well as top up services for clients who have had the treatment previously.
is this suitable for curly hair?
Hi Seona.
Yes, it’s suitable for curly hair.
The usual process is used in conjunction with straightening irons which helps to relax wave and curl as well as give ultimate shine, but the process for curly hair differs and just removes the frizz factor.
We hope this helps and feel free to call us at the salon to enquire more.
